Adapted just slightly from The Nutrition Twins
These little bites are an amazing combination of sweet, crunchy, juicy and creamy … they are a bit like one little bite-size caramel apple, but with extra crunch from the toffee. They are the sweeter cousins of the White Chocolate Peanut Grapes–both exceedingly simple, both amazing in their own right.
I really love them both but personally, if I had to choose one (even despite my toffee fetish!), I prefer the peanut grapes–I like the salt of the nuts and the bit of protein that they add, but most other people seem to prefer these little toffee bites.
I do have a slight confession to make … despite my recent plethora of grape recipes, I have never been a grape lover. My kids have always adored them, but I’ve never been much of a fan. Give me a peach or a melon–an apricot, a kiwi, a pomegranate. Anything but grapes. But this recipe totally transforms the humble grape into something I totally ADORE. It’s a little like a bite-size caramel apple, without the core.
By the way, I’m totally planning to make these little treats with my nieces and nephews this Christmas and I am POSITIVE they are going to love them! It’s going to be a fun little project for our little cooks.
PrintToffee Grapes
- Prep Time: 20 minutes
- Total Time: 20 minutes
- Yield: as many as you like!
Ingredients
- Large, fresh, crunchy grapes
- 6 oz. white chocolate chips or dark chocolate chips (or make some of each!)
- Finely chopped toffee bits
- Toothpicks
Instructions
- Wash the grapes and let them dry completely (or towel dry). Set the toffee bits in a small bowl. Line a baking sheet with a silicon baking mat or waxed paper.
- Put the chocolate in a microwave safe bowl and microwave on high for 1 minute. Stir, then microwave 30 seconds longer. Stir a lot. If the chocolate isn’t melted yet, microwave 30 seconds more and stir again.
- Test each grape to see if it will stand on its end. Some will, some won’t. If the grape will not stand up, then cut just a tiny bit off the end to make it stand properly. Stab the top of the grape with a toothpick, dip the bottom end (the cut side) in the chocolate, then roll in the toffee bits. Set on the prepared tray. Repeat until you run out of chocolate or grapes or toffee.
- Let the grapes sit until the chocolate is set, then they are ready to enjoy! Store in a cool place until it’s time to eat.
