Ingredients
- Corn tortillas
- Avocado oil spray – or avocado oil
Instructions
- Preheat the air fryer to 370 F.
- While the air fryer is heating, gather your tortillas and toppings. Set one corn tortilla on a plate and spray (or brush) with avocado oil, then flip and spray the other side. Find a metal measuring cup or oven-safe small ceramic bowl or ramekin to keep the tortilla in place while crisping.
- Set the oiled tortilla in the hot air fryer with the cup on top. Cook at 370 F for 4 minutes.
- USE TONGS to remove the hot cup or ramekin, then the crispy tortilla. If it needs more browning, flip and cook for 1 – 2 minutes on the other side. Watch it carefully until you get the timing down for your own air fryer.
- Repeat as needed until you have all the shells that you need, then top as desired and enjoy!
Notes
SUPER IMPORTANT: to prevent burns, make sure you use tongs for handling the hot measuring cup and pulling the hot tostada shell out of the air fryer. Better yet, wear gloves to protect from burning your fingers!
You can use the air fryer again to melt cheese on top if you wish. I like to put a little cheese on it right away and melt for a few seconds in the air fryer (it doesn’t take long!) before adding toppings; this prevents a barrier between any “wet” toppings and the crisp shell, helping the tostada shell to stay crisp.
