Those of you who knew me last year at Christmas-time might remember this one. I made it for the team at the office last year, and transported it all the way to California for the company meeting in my suitcase.
This year it’ll be much easier to transport. I have a new job at a company here in town that I totally LOVE … and every day there seems to be a new treat in the break room from some vendor or client of ours and they go FAST. I’ve brought a few of my yummies into the office but I’ve only shared them with a few people. Most of them don’t even know I have a food blog. I’m planning to make some of this for them this weekend. Maybe. Or maybe I’ll make something else … or maybe I should just wait because I bet we’ll still have lots of treats from others … I don’t quite know yet. I suppose I should figure out my plan for Christmas gifts and my son’s birthday first. My family is kind of skipping the whole gift thing this year … I think. I feel so nervous because I don’t want to show up empty-handed, and yet, I also don’t want to be the only one showing up with gifts. It’s time to call Mom.
I’m re-posting this lovely sweet treat because:
- the original post somehow got messed up in the switchover to the new blog (I’m still baffled over what happened there … )
- it’s super simple to make … and I know we all need something easy for the holidays … and
- it’s SO good! (especially if you’re a peppermint pretzel loving fiend like me)
I think if I were to make it again, I would, just for an extra layer of decadence, drizzle with a little melted dark chocolate at the end. Wouldn’t that be lovely?
PrintChocolate Peppermint Pretzel Munch Mix
- Prep Time: 15 minutes
- Cook Time: 15 minutes
- Total Time: 30 minutes
Ingredients
- Chocolate Graham Crackers or cookies, broken into pieces
- Pretzels
- Almond Bark (I used 6 squares for my batch)
- Peppermint Candy Canes, crushed
Instructions
- Spray a large baking sheet with cooking spray and lay out broken chocolate graham crackers randomly across the pan.
- Add the pretzels, interspersing amongst the crackers to create a blanket of crackers and pretzels.
- Melt the almond bark or white chocolate chips. I used a plastic spoon to stir them so I could make a peppermint spoon.
- Drizzle across the cracker/pretzel blanket.
- Immediately sprinkle with crushed candy canes.
- Allow the mixture to cool, then break into pieces.
- Dip the spoon you used to stir the almond bark into the crushed candy canes and allow to sit until the chocolate has hardened. The spoon is great to include in a gift basket with some hot chocolate mix or coffee and a nice mug. I think it would be REALLY cool to do this with some funky antique real spoons that you got from an antique store for a little bit of nothing. Wouldn’t that be cool?
