Creamy avocado along with just a bit of Greek cream cheese gives this easy bean dip a wonderful creaminess with no sour cream required! And it’s ready in minutes for munching.
Bean dips normally call for loads of sour cream and/or cheese, and while my taste buds love both those things, I try not to go into excess in either of those departments. With creamy avocado, though, I know it’s heart healthy so I can snack to my heart’s content! I even found some white bean tortilla chips that are high in fiber to go just perfect with my yummy new bean dip.
I love how easy this dip is so I can step into the kitchen and in just a few minutes, I have a delicious healthy snack that satisfies my cravings without damaging my health goals. (Some days, hey, this is my lunch!) This dip is high in fiber, protein and calcium, so you can feel good about eating it. For an even healthier snack, use veggie dippers like carrot chips, baby carrots, cauliflower, or sliced mushrooms. Sometimes what I do is make a plate half full of veggies with a limited number of chips on the other side. Once I’ve dipped and eaten all the veggies, I treat myself to the tortilla chips and I slow down and enjoy every last crunchy bite loaded with the oh so creamy dip on top.
What if I am lactose free? Or vegan?
If you are vegan or you’re sensitive to cream cheese, just leave it out and you still have a delicious dip! The avocado really makes it super creamy. I’m a bit of a cheese fanatic so I like the little hint of cheesiness that the cream cheese gives this dip, but the cream cheese is definitely not required.
What if I want it extra hot & spicy? or mild?
Add more (or hotter) salsa … or feel free to jazz up this dip by adding chopped hot peppers of your choice or chipotle powder. Not into heat? Tone it down by using a mild salsa. This dip is totally customizable to your own preferences. Do what makes YOUR heart sing.
Can I use canned beans?
Absolutely! I used my Instant Pot beans for this recipe, but hey, I’ve also been known to crack open a can of beans when I don’t want to go through the trouble of cooking the beans myself or I don’t have any dried ones on hand to cook.
