These bars go by many names and can be made in so many flavors. My son likes to refer to them as “mashup bars”, while my yoga friends call them “orgasm bars” (because they taste like an orgasm in your mouth) … my foodie friends refer to these type of bars as “magic bars”. All of these names fit perfectly. Whatever you call them, they really are amazing, and they are so easy and fun to make!
When I chanced upon some espresso baking chips at Aldi, I knew I wanted to make a coffee inspired version. I brought the chips home, stuck them in the baking cupboard and waited for an occasion to make my newest decadence.
My friend hosted a “Spring Fling” event last week at her furniture store. She brought the wine, we had lots of vendors and I brought the food. Oh yes, it was time! My espresso latte bars were just dying to become a real thing and I was so happy to see it actually happening. I set myself on the task of making some magic … my son joined me and made his own amazing version that everyone just loved.
These bars are so easy and so versatile that you can kinda take them on any flavor tangent that you like. Make the cookie crust, then sprinkle whatever chips and nuts (or even dried fruit) that you have on hand, pour a can of sweetened condensed milk over top and make your own creation. My son’s version turned out extra ooey gooey (I think because he went a little crazy with the chocolate and caramel syrups), but everyone loved his so much that I will just have to share it with you. Soon, I promise. In the meantime, tide yourself over with this lovely mocha latte decadence.

Notes
I recommend cutting these bars very small because they are very rich and decadent. Just a 1-inch square is really enough to satisfy. Eat it slowly and savor every luscious bite.

Thanks, Abbe! I found the chips at Aldi, but they don’t have them there since Christmas. However, I did discover that King Arthur Flour carries a cappuccino chip: http://www.kingarthurflour.com/shop/items/cappuccino-baking-chips-16-oz
