Ingredients
Scale
- 2 teaspoons olive oil
- 1 medium onion, peeled & chopped fine
- 1 – 3 cloves garlic, peeled & chopped fine
- 1 1/2 cups ketchup
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 Tablespoons Jack Daniels whiskey
- 1/2 teaspoon liquid smoke
- 2 1/2 Tablespoons apple cider vinegar
- 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
- 1 Tablespoon chipotle powder (or to taste)
- 1 – 2 Tablespoons honey (or to taste)
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, saute the onion and garlic in the oil until the onion is soft and translucent and the garlic is fragrant.
- Stir in the remaining ingredients and bring to a slow boil. Reduce heat and simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring frequently. Adjust honey and chipotle to taste. Slather on ribs, chicken or other meat.
