Adapted from Real Simple
Continuing on with my pear craze, I had to try making an appetizer with my pretty pears, and I thought tangy blue cheese, salty prosciutto, and bitter arugula would be a wonderful contrast with the sweet, juicy pears.
I ate these little bites “raw”, but I think if you roasted them a bit, they would be even more marvelous. They are certainly easy to make and would make an elegant party appetizer. Who says party appetizers have to be savory? These little pear bites are both sweet and savory!
PrintProsciutto Pear Bites w Herbs & Blue Cheese
- Prep Time: 20 minutes
- Total Time: 20 minutes
Ingredients
- 1 – 2 oz. light cream cheese
- 1 – 2 oz. Greek yogurt
- 1 – 2 Tablespoons blue cheese crumbles
- A bit of finely chopped fresh rosemary and chives
- Arugula leaves
- 1 – 2 ripe pears, cut into wedges, core removed, tossed with a bit of lemon juice to keep from browning
- Strips of thinly cut prosciutto
Instructions
- In a small bowl, mix together the cream cheese, yogurt, blue cheese, rosemary and chives (use the smaller amount for 1 pear, the larger for 2).
- Take each pear wedge and snuggle a spoonful of cheese in the center, stick a couple of arugula leaves on, then wrap with prosciutto.
- Enjoy as a snack or appetizer.

What a lovely combo of flavors! I’m pinning this and am planning on making them this weekend when we have friends over. Thanks so much for linking them to the Weekend Potluck.
Thank you Kim! I’m so excited that you’re going to try it. I really loved these flavors together … and they’re so cute and easy to make, too!

I made this recipe, as an appetiser for my daughter’s baby shower, and as you can probably tell, it was a H U G E hit! I paired with a salad with a Dijon dressing and my guests where wild about it and only asking me for the recipe! Truly delicious!
Thank you so much, please keep up the ‘Pear Obsession’, trust me, we are right behind you! :D!
That makes me soooo happy, Gabriela! I’m glad your guests enjoyed them and yes, I will continue with the “pear obsession”.

Hi ther
These look fab. Can these be made in advance if you dip the pear in lemon juice to avoid discoloration and will the arugula wilt if made early in the day of the party? Thanks
Hi Sandra,
Thank you so much for the kind comment. These little bies are delicious and very easy to make! I think they really would be best made the day of the party, but if you put them in a sealed container in the fridge until serving time, they should be fine. Good luck with your party and I hope you enjoy the pear bites.
Take care,
Ann from Sumptuous Spoonfuls
